About The Society

What we do

The Essex Birdwatching Society exists to promote for the benefit of the public, conservation, education, knowledge and protection in relation to wild birds in the ceremonial County of Essex, including the areas of unitary authorities and in the London Boroughs of Barking, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest.

How we do it

This is achieved by the EBwS holding regular Indoor Meetings; conducting Field Trip Outings; undertaking County surveys; participating in National surveys; contributing to conservation projects; producing the twice yearly 'Essex Birding' journal and the award winning annual 'Essex Bird Report'.  We have also successfully held two Conferences, the first to raise money and awareness for the Operation Turtle Dove and the second for Kestrel Conservation in Essex.  More are to be planned in the future.
