1 Goosander (Red- head, unexpected visitor on the lake snorkelling around fishing & rollling over a lot, very tame came to the edges in company of 2 Mute Swans & several Mallard, at times fending off commoners with an open gap saw bill. Spellbounding behaviour drew me away from the Sanderling Observations, when I popped my head back over the wall to look for them the tide had gone with Sanderling too. Goosander Flew off after about an hour looked rather ungainly as it rounded against the garrison houses I thought it was come back & then flew NW inland surprisgly. Some record shots on my Twitter feed & short but distant video clip ), 1 Gannet (On Kent side going out of Estuary, vicinity of Richard Montgomery wreck), 411 Sanderling (3 Coloured rings identified 1 Dutch- Griend & two Ornkey ringed birds regulars in the flock - 3 metal rings), 2 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Kingfisher (Female), 2 Rock Pipit, 2 Stonechat (Pair ,fenced off compound), 1 Wheatear [David Low]

94 Ringed Plover, 783 Sanderling (8 Coloured rings examined 3 Icelandic regulars for past 5 years one has a dropped white ring but by time of location turn up can only be the previous ringed bird. 4 rings retained out of the original five on this individual 2 other Icelandic ringed birds are doppelgängers their combination rings are exactly the same but on reverse legs. Left leg green flag over blue over green Right leg metal white over white. - other bird doppelgänger left leg metal white over white right leg green flag over blue over green,: can be tricky at times when you see either one of two. Especially when running which Sanderling do a lot of. 3 Orkney-, Sanday, Rings two have been in the flock the last three years and another new bird has appeared today.- all these birds carry a lime green flag which is an ID character unique to Orkney Birds Dutch Ringed bird has a yellow flag as part of combination is spending its second winter in the Roost interesting it disperses in spring to its place of ringing Griend-Dutch Wadden Sea Island- its estimated there are 22,000 Sanderling that Roost on this island in a recent study census. 1 bird Black Point, Hayling Island Hampshire this bird is back for second winter has a dark blue flag made up in its combination at least five other Hayling island birds pass through this flock either in spring or autumn.
